In celebration of the fourth anniversary of the Confucius Institute at UD (CIUD), Xiamen University Performing Arts Troupe and CIUD jointly presented the Bridge-Friendship Grand Performance, featuring international and national award-winning instrumental artists and musicians from Xiamen University’s renowned School of the Arts in September 2014. The show dazzled audiences with the best of traditional Chinese instrumental music, folk songs, and ethnic dances. The Chinese culture fair offered the public a glimpse into Peking Opera, “Learn Chinese in Fifteen Minutes,” along with Chinese instruments, calligraphy, painting, dough figurines, paper crafts, folk dances, and a Chinese tea ceremony. These activities were followed by art performances from local schools including Delaware Academy of Public Safety and Security, Archmere Academy, Ursuline Academy, Delaware Christian Academy, Lincoln University, and UD’s Osher Lifelong Learning. The culture fair concluded with a Chinese costume fashion show displaying the costumes of the Han, Tang, and Qing Dynsties, as well as Chinese ethnic clothing.
