Dr. Cynthia Klestinec, Associate Professor of English at Miami University of Ohio, visited Dr. Meredith Ray’s FLLT 330 class on
The Scientific Revolution in Italy to discuss anatomy and dissection practices in early modern Italy. Dr. Klestinec also gave a fascinating public lecture titled “Histories of the Body: The Surgeon in the Age of Vesalius.” Her discussion of the case of the Venetian surgeon Giovanni Andrea della Croce and the increased use of vernacular Italian as a vehicle for the circulation of scientific concepts in Renaissance Italy was followed by a lively Q&A with students and faculty from a range of departments and disciplines across campus.
