Delta Phi Alpha German Honor Society Induction Ceremony
As faculty advisor to the German Honor Society, Delta Phi Alpha, Dr. Iris Busch was in charge of the annual induction ceremony. Faculty, parents, and students gathered in early May to celebrate German students’ accomplishments of the past year. Twelve new student members were inducted, and Dr. Delphis Levia was awarded an honorary membership. Tanner Kauffman Gore received the Sepp Hilsenrad Memorial Award, which acknowledges outstanding work at the advanced level. Given annually by the Delaware Saengerbund and Library Association, our host of the event, Tanner received a check in the amount of $1,000! We also honored Eric Peterson, the recipient of the Marion E. Wiley Memorial Award, which honors the accomplishments of a non-major student in German beyond the intermediate level. A special feature of the Wiley Award is that the student’s name is inscribed on a plaque, which hangs in DLLC’s main office.
