LAIS Lecture by Ricardo Padrón: Ramapping China: Escalante, Mendoza, and the Global Carthography of the Spanish Pacific
On November 10, 2016, the Latin American & Iberian Studies program presented Ricardo Padrón, Associate Professor of Spanish, University of Virginia, in “Remapping China: Escalante, Mendoza, and the Global Cartography of the Spanish Pacific”. He was introducted by Assistant Professor of Spanish Jesús Botello.
His lectura was part of the Fall 2016 LAIS Lecture Series. In conjunction with the exhibition “Made in the Americas: The New World Discovers Asia” on view at Winterthur Museum, the Latin American & Iberian Studies program has organized a lecture series to explore Spain’s early global engagement in the fields of trade, art, material culture, and literature.
