The series is set in Bavaria, Imperial Germany, in 1900. Curt Prank is a rich newcomer from Franconia with a shady past. He arrives in Munich, and he is determined to become the main attraction at the Oktoberfest with his own brewery and make the event bigger than it ever was before, intending to do so by way of building a giant castle-shaped tent to use as beer hall. He is also ruthless and will use any means necessary. When his daughter falls in love with the heir to a rival brewery, a violent chain of events is unleashed that will threaten both families’ futures.

S1 E1 · Episode 1:  Munich’s elite derides Prank’s plans for a beer hall and a wealthy suitor for his daughter, Clara, but soon only the Hoflingers remain in his way.

S1 E1 · Episode 2:  The shocking murder of Ignatz Hoflinger gives Prank an opportunity to seize the victim’s festival lot; Roman and Clara meet again.

S1 E1 · Episode 3:  Munich’s top brewing executive manoeuvres Prank into a partnership and a marriage to Clara, who harbors a scandalous secret.

S1 E1 · Episode 4:  Oktoberfest begins, but Prank’s position and health are precarious; Roman barely survives a savage beating; Colina finds a new role.

S1 E1 · Episode 5 – Dawn of a New Century:  Prank takes a conciliatory tone with the Hoflingers, but a scandal means more tragedy for the family. Colina’s estranged husband returns.

S1 E1 · Episode 6: The publicans engage in legal manoeuvring, leading to an unlikely Prank-Hoflinger alliance brokered by Clara, who helps Colina escape from her husband.
