Feeling ill, Tora-san travels north to Hokkaido. While there, he is tasked with tracking down the estranged son of a dying yakuza boss. After returning home to Tokyo at his sister Sakura’s urging, Tora-san attempts to abandon his wandering vagrant lifestyle and settle down to do honest work. He ultimately tries his hand at a steady job selling fried tofu—and falls in love with Setsuko, the pretty tofu shop owner.
