Alessandro is a 50-year-old local folk singer in Sassari, Sardinia, who struggles with alcohol abuse and a gambling addiction.  After trashing his mother’s house during a violent outburst, he is committed to a psychiatric ward.  In the hospital, he meets Francesca, a fragile young woman who lost custody of her young son, Antonio.  The two share a brief romance and decide to escape together on a road trip across Sardinia to find Antonio and seek a fresh start.
