Visit and Talks by Artist Julio Broca

On Oct. 17-18, 2017, Artist Julio Broca from the Instituto de Ciencias Sociales y Humanidades “Alfonso Vélez Pliego,” Benemérita Universidad Autónoma of Puebla, Mexico, gave two workshops on social justice and art in Mexico. The first was entitled, “Wounded Cities: Julio Broca and the Role of the Artist Following Disasters: Social Justice and Earthquakes in Mexico.”
The second presentation, given in English, was entitled “Indigenous Resistance in Mexico: The Art of Julio Broca.”
During his time at UD Mr. Broca visited Dr. Dr. Gladys Ilarregui’s course: Human Rights and Latin American Literature to discuss his work. Dr. Ilarregui organized the events which were sponsored by the Department of Languages, Literatures and Cultures.
